War in Iraq - 2006/11/28 23:27 Things just seem to get worse and worse in Iraq. While I do not support this war, I feel that we have an obligation to finish what we started. We've destroyed a country, now we must rebuild. How you rebuild, I don't know, maybe we need an alternative approach to troops.

Do you think things are going to get better or worse from here on out? Do we pull out, or are we obligated to stay? Any ideas for alternative approaches?

Re:War in Iraq - 2006/11/29 06:28 The problem with the Iraq situation is that Bush isn't doing it right and I doubt highly that he is letting the military do it their way.

Simply put, if you can't maintain security at the borders, give up. Send in 10,000 troops to the border with Iran with the basic and simple orders to shoot anyone crossing anywhere other than at specific crossing points. You'd have to put up signs of course. I don't think anyone would tamper with the signs after seeing a few decaying bodies a few yards beyond it. If the 'insurgence' sontinues then put 10,000 troops on the border with Syria and do the same. Sooner of later one of two things will happen, either the 'insurgents' will run out of people or they will run out of ammo. Regardless of which, the problem is solved.

The Arabic community has a drastically different history than us. They have lived with an almost constant state of war for thousands of years. They don't understand the kinder, gentler hand syndrome. They understand a firm leadership. They see our tolerance as weakness. I'm not saying beat the crap out of them. Just that we need to be a little less concerned about stepping on toes. Especially those that are there without legitimate purposes.
